Open Question: Why is nudity just ok in Europe?

I was in Europe on a teen tour through France. One day we went to the beach and it was a nude beach. I had my bikini on and I didn't plan to take it off. There were so many boys there that were around my age (14) laying there naked. Nothing happened on the beach but what was weird was when had to go the bathroom. There was only one bathroom for men an women. They had a wall that was kind of like a urinal with a drain at the bottom or you could use the toilets without any stalls around.
